Quinnipiac University’s chapter of Delta Chi Fraternity has been temporarily suspended from the university’s Greek Life Monday due to an ongoing investigation of alleged misconduct.
“The university has placed a fraternity on interim suspension while it investigates allegations of misconduct,” said John Morgan, associate vice president for public relations. “We are committed to fostering a safe, respectful community, and the well-being of our students remains our highest priority. As this is an ongoing process, the university will not comment further at this time.”
The Fraternity joined Quinnipiac in fall 2021 as part of the university’s effort to expand Greek Life chapters on campus.
This suspension comes after weeks of rumors about potential hazing circulated the student body.
“Quinnipiac University prohibits hazing of any member of the Quinnipiac community by any organization, student athletic team, group of students or individual,” according to the university’s hazing policy.
Anyone who violates that policy “shall be subject to a fine of not more than $1,500 and shall forfeit for a period of not less than one year all of the rights and privileges of being an organization organized or operating at an institution of higher education.”
Rumors about the fraternity being suspended or kicked off of campus began during Greek Week, when the fraternity was supposed to be paired up with the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority for various events, yet did not appear at the Lip Sync battle Wednesday, April 9.
“Delta Chi at Quinnipiac is a brotherhood that strives to promote friendship, develop character, advance justice and assist in the acquisition of a sound education,” according to the chapter’s Facebook page.
