I very seldom have anything to complain about in my life. I also have few things to complain about when it comes to Quinnipiac. For once, however, I do have a problem with the school regarding the cafeteria schedule.
Last year, I wrote an article (“QU meal plan doesn’t add up”) about how the meal plan was insufficient and that some of the prices for things in the cafeteria were too expensive. This year, some of the prices have been raised yet again, but that is not what bothers me anymore.
What has been bothering me is why it seems like the cafeteria has been closing so early this semester. Many times this year I have made the trip to the cafeteria in hopes of grabbing something to eat, but have walked away empty handed because it was closed.
On the Web site www.dineoncampus.com, it says the cafeteria should be open until 8 p.m. during the week. Sometimes it is open until then, while other times it has already been closed. The cafeteria is supposed to be open until 8 p.m. on Friday as well. Sadly, I do not remember the last time it was actually open until 8 p.m. on a Friday night.
I understand that the Bobcat Den (The Ratt) is open to provide students with food after the cafeteria closes. Once the cafeteria closes however, lines at the Bobcat Den get out of control because people on campus have only one place to go to get food. Last week, I waited for half an hour at the Bobcat Den for a cheeseburger. By the time I got my food, I was so tired of waiting that I wasn’t even hungry anymore.
These first few weeks have been frustrating for others and myself because there have been many times when we were forced to wait for at least 20 minutes for an overcooked cheeseburger and some soggy French fries. I wish I had one of the Hill apartments so I could make my own food whenever I am hungry and not have to worry if the cafeteria would still be open at 7:30 p.m.
I know this may not be a big deal for some people. Some people will just order food from any place that delivers, and others will just go back to their rooms and make some Ramen noodles if the lines are too long for them to wait on. I just wish that with the money we pay for our meal plans, we didn’t have to wait 30 minutes for a cheeseburger.
