A 23-year-old man who fell at Sleeping Giant State Park is confirmed dead, as reported by News 8 WTNH per the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Environmental Police (EnCon).
He suffered head and chest injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man’s fall was reported Monday morning. EnCon Police arrived at the scene around 11:45 a.m, according to CTPoliceLive.
“The man was found in the woods and succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” News 8 WTNH reported.
CTPoliceLive reported that he was found “after reportedly falling from an unmarked trail.”
A LifeFlight helicopter was requested and later arrived at Quinnipiac University’s rugby field, where the man was being treated.
The victim’s identity has not been released and the Connecticut Environmental Conservation Police’s investigation is ongoing. EnCon is working with the State’s Attorney’s Office in New Haven and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine “cause and manner of death of the man,” a spokesperson from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection said, per the Hartford Courant.
