The Quinnipiac University baseball team dropped both games to Wagner on Saturday afternoon at the QU Baseball Field. The Bobcats lost Game 1, 3-1 and Game 2, 8-7.

Spencer Kane threw all seven innings for Quinnipiac (10-28, 5-14 NEC) in the first half of the doubleheader. He gave up six hits, three runs, and struck out five.

The Bobcats offense could only string together three hits and one run off of Seahawks starter Matt Morris. The junior southpaw struck out seven en route to his third victory of the season.

Cleanup hitter Chris Migani went 2 for 3. He is currently hitting .285 on the year, good for second on the team. Scott Donaghue had the other hit, an RBI single in the third.

The Bobcats led the second stint of the doubleheader 3-2 through four innings. Wagner’s offense then exploded for five runs in the top half of the fifth inning.

Ian Miller, Chris Smith, Nick Dini, and Jayson Keel all had two hits for Wagner (18-23, 11-8 NEC).

Mike Adams got his second victory of the year, going six full innings.

Nick Fabrizio started the second game, going 4 1/3 innings, surrendering eight hits and six runs.

Down 8-5, Quinnipiac mounted a comeback in the bottom half of the final inning.

After consecutive singles by Donaghue and Ryan Nelson, Bryan Ruditys walked to load the bases. After a fly out to left field, Steffen Herter walked to make it 8-6.

With one out and the bases still loaded Mike Palladino singled up the middle to center. Wagner center fielder Ian Miller gunned out the tying run at the plate, preserving a one run lead for the Seahawks. Forrest Dwyer then struck out looking to end the game.

The loss marks number 16 in a row for Quinnipiac. The two teams square off tomorrow for the fourth and final game of the weekend at 1 p.m.
