Volleyball looks to serve record

The women’s volleyball team has fallen on hard times this season. They are currently 2-12 this season, and need to win four more matches to equal the team’s six win performance of a year ago.

The two wins that the Bobcats have came on back-to-back outings against Providence College and Gardner-Webb, both 3-1 victories.

The Bobcats have been shut-out six times this season, and have yet to win at a match at home, going 0-2. They are 0-5 on the road and 2-5 on neutral floors.

The team has been carried by sophomore Kalyn Hundley, arguably the team’s best player last season, and unquestionably their best performer thus far this year. She leads the team in games played (54), kills (207), kills per game (3.83), total attempts (579) and percentage with a .193 mark.

Despite the team’s slow start during the first half of the season, they are now entering the NEC portion of the schedule which will see them play eight conference games in the final 10 matches, with games at Boston College and at Seton Hall, the only non-NEC teams left on the schedule. Both of those schools are from the Big East Conference.

Since every team makes the NEC Tournament, there is a chance for the Bobcats to put a winning streak together to move them up the conference ladder and if they play well at the right time, make some noise in the NEC postseason.
