We hope you all enjoyed the Grammys! The Arts and Life staff highlighted what we warrant the best and worst dressed ladies of the night. Read below and see if you agree!
Christine Burroni, Arts and Life Co-Editor, @ChristineBurr:
Worst Dressed: Can we set fire to Adele’s dress? Seriously I’m not too sure what she was thinking with abundance of florals, and odd fitting cup-cake tea length Valenteino dress. I know she’s a new mommy but looking as maternal as our domestic grandmothers was not the way to go with this one.
Best Dressed: Just as red as the carpet, Rihanna was completely stunning. The slightly sheer front of her Alaia dress complete with the long train that flowed as she walked. Her hair was middle-parted and angelically curly, subtle but elegant, leaving all attention on the dress. Also, I hate to admit it, but Taylor Swift is just behind Ri-Ri, in her white cut-out gown, greek-goddess-looking gown by J. Mendel.
Catherine Boudreau, Arts and Life Co-Editor, @cateliz1090
Worst Dressed: Jennifer Lopez: J. Lo’s taken up a new hobby- sumo wrestling. The flowy, black, one-shoulder dress by Anthony Zacarello looked more like a moo-moo than an evening gown, and her attempt to show-off some leg circa the Oscars 2012, Angelina Jolie-style failed.
Best Dressed: Kelly Rowland: The former Destiny’s Child singer donned a black, form fitting dress by Chakra, hugging every curve and leaving just enough to the imagination. The geometric sheer cutouts accentuated her body to perfection, and topping it off with emerald green accessories was a great choice since it’s such a popular trend. She outshined Beyonce by a long shot.
Side Note: I expected a lot more from Beyonce. She’s been in the spotlight a lot these past few weeks, and working off the momentum from her Super Bowl performance I thought she’d be a stunner. That pantsuit was just bland.
Anna Wagner, Associate Arts and Life Editor, @AnnaKatWagner:
Worst Dressed: Kimbra- Look! A nebula! Oh..wait… that’s Kimbra…my mistake. As much as a I love this energetic fireball it looks like her dress was made in a kindergarten class during craft time. Ooof.
Best Dressed: Carrie Underwood- Classy and fabulous, If Coco Chanel saw this classic Hollywood Roberto Cavailli gown she would shed a tear. Carrie’s sparse jewelry and dark eyes make this dress look sophisticated and incredibly sexy (Damn Carrie! Look at your curves girl!). I am blown away.
Michele Snow, Editor-in-Chief, @michenator:
Worst Dressed: Whoever that girl was with Gotye: Whether this girl just wanted to be a fairy for a night or if she just liked feeling sparkly all over like a 5-year-old, I’m pretty sure she crafted that dress with supplies she bought at Michael’s. Wherever you got that, and whoever told you to definitely wear it to the Grammy’s, defriend them.
Best Dressed: Kelly Clarkson: Black is the new black this spring, as those of you who read the Miley issue of Cosmo certainly know. And Kelly rocked the black. The long-sleeved silhouette with the swooping high neckline was elegance and sophistication personified, and though the chatter about Kelly’s body image never seems to cease, that crystal belt was flattering in all the right ways.
