The Quinnipiac men’s soccer team won their third straight game, this time on the road, beating Saint Francis (Pa.) 2-0. Senior William Cavallo scoring his first goal of the season and sophomore Machel Baker earning a score as well, producing in two consecutive games.

This win also marks the third consecutive shutout for sophomore goalkeeper Borja Angoitia, the first time men’s soccer has done so since 2009, boosting their record to 7-5-2 overall and 5-1-1 in NEC play.

The first goal came in the 27th minute when senior midfielder Robbie McLarney found Cavallo stationed outside the 18. Cavallo then blasted the ball past the outstretched arms of the diving Red Flash goalie Daniel Valcicak.

Quinnipiac refused to stop at one and five minutes into the second half, Angoitia sailed the ball to Baker off a goal kick who proceeded to chip it over Valcicak and score the last goal of the game. The Bobcats keeper also earned his first career assist on the play.

Riding this winning streak, Quinnipiac continued to control all facets of the game except for corner kicks with Saint Francis (5-7-4, 3-3-2 NEC) leading 5-2 in that category. Otherwise, the away team outshot their opponent 14-12 and also led in shots on goal, 8-6.

With a third straight victory against the Red Flash, Quinnipiac put themselves in a two-way tie for second place with Central Connecticut (both with 16 points), shooting past Monmouth but trailing first place Fairleigh Dickinson by only one point.

Remaining in Pennsylvania, the Bobcats hope to keep this run alive as they take on Robert Morris at 10 A.M. on Sunday, marking the last road game of the season.
