The Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey team stood tall against two ECAC Hockey foes over the weekend, tying Brown, 0-0, and beating Yale, 2-1, to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Freshman goalie Victoria Vigilanti came up big in both games, tallying a combined 57 saves in both games. Vigilanti’s contribution was that much more important because Quinnipiac was outshot in both games.

Vigilanti shut out the Bears on Friday with 34 saves, including two key stops in overtime to hold the game to a scoreless tie.

“We had a lot of scoring opportunities throughout the game,” Quinnipiac head coach Rick Seeley said. “We saw several chances to bury the puck, but their freshman goalie played very well. Vigilanti came through on our side as well, and she was definitely there when we needed her.”

Vigilanti recorded 23 saves in the victory against Yale on Saturday and allowed a worthless goal against in the third period with a 2-0 lead.

Janine Duffy and Bethany Dymarczyk provided the offense for Vigilanti and the Bobcats with two goals in the second period.

Duffy’s goal was assisted by Kallie Flor and Kate Wheeler at the 5:14 mark, and Dymarczyk was assisted by Kelley Davies and Wheeler at with 53 seconds remaining.

QU kept penalties at a minimum in both games, being called for only two penalties on Friday and three on Saturday. Their opponents had 11 penalties combined over both games.

The Bobcats hit the ice again on Friday, Nov. 13 against Harvard in Cambridge, Mass.
