Voted Most Random fills, rocks The Space [Video]

The formula is simple: college kids who love Blink-182, instruments, and a contagious desire to have a good time. This has been seen before in the world of pop-punk but there is a different sum in this equation. This time, the answer is Quinnipiac’s own Voted Most Random.

Bennett Pisaniello, Ian Reibeisen, Joe Mauti, Scott Gunter and Sal Salemme have played together for roughly one year now and have already opened up for We the Kings, won Battle of the Bands last summer at The Space, and topped off their self-proclaimed summer “Fun Sized Tour” with their set at Warped Tour in Hartford.

Last Thursday, Sept. 23, their destination was The Space for a show with View From an Airplane and Love Via Dance Machine.

“It feels amazing when we see a venue fill up with people who are there seeing us do what we love to do,” bassist Joe Mauti said.

Before their performance, the guys circled up in a huddle – a ritual to pump each other up, give words of wisdom, and joke around.

When Voted Most Random took the stage, the crowd went nuts.

The set started with lead singer Ian Reibeisen jumping on stage with the start of one of the band’s newer songs, “Dirty Games.”

Pisaniello and Mauti provide a solid backing with catchy opening riffs, while Salemme holds strong the band’s upbeat tempo with explosive fills. Gunter shows excitement on guitar not usually seen in popular music today. (Check out his solo and opening riff on “A Beautiful You” on the band’s MySpace Music account.)

Then there is Reibeisen, who powered through with solid vocals and emphatic energy despite almost losing his voice prior to the show. The band finished their seven song set to a roaring crowd with their signature closer: “Party Naked.” Then they descended to the masses to show their appreciation for the support.

“It’s great to see a band that’s starting to make it show so much appreciation to their fans,” sophomore Alysse Zaffos said.

So what’s next for Voted Most Random? The band will record a few songs in October and then open up for Cute Is What We Aim For in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., at The Chance on Oct. 17.
