Quinnipiac University’s Mount Carmel Campus remodel is continuing forward with the new bookstore set to open in January for the spring 2026 semester.
Currently, the Carl Hansen Student Center is home to two bookstores on both the first and second floors. The first floor location carries merchandise, gifts and more. Upstairs, it houses textbooks and school supplies.
A building — formerly used as office space — located between North Lot and the DOME is being renovated to host the new bookstore, which will be a combination of both.

All entry points lead to the main level, which will carry the same items as the current first floor bookstore. Through the open staircase in the center of the store, students can enter the lower level to purchase textbooks and school supplies.
The store’s main entry point will be located just outside of the Recreation and Wellness center, aiming to draw in prospective students who visit campus. With the new location at the campus’s main gate, the location also serves as a focal point when entering the campus.
“It’s a pretty nice upgrade as far as bookstores go,” Vice President for Facilities and Capital Planning Sal Filardi said.
Sitting next to the main entrance will also be an elevator that will serve as an accessible entrance to the lower level.

The main level also includes offices and storage space for any back of house operations.
Once the current bookstore is officially closed, renovation plans will begin. The area will be an extension of the dining hall, functioning with a traditional meal swipe format.
Upon entry, students will swipe their Qcard and enter a buffet line for an “all-you-care-to-eat” dining section.
With the changes to both spaces, the three-step reallocation plan makes significant progress.
