The Hamden Police Department will conduct sobriety checkpoints tonight at several Hamden locations, including Dixwell Avenue and Whitney Avenue, according to a press release.
“The Hamden Police Department’s goal is to spread public awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving,” Captain Ronald Smith said in the press release. “Along with making the streets of Hamden and surrounding communities safer, by arresting those individuals who are driving while intoxicated.”
The Connecticut Department of Transportation funds the sobriety checks.
The Hamden police have run sobriety checks before. In the month of December, Hamden police conducted checks on Dixwell Avenue, Mix Avenue, Whitney Avenue, Skiff Street and other locations.
