Heading into Sunday afternoon’s game against Saint Francis (PA.), the Quinnipiac women’s lacrosse team new exactly what they had to do to keep its playoffs hopes alive: win.

Tying a season-high for team goals scored, Quinnipiac defeated the Red-Flash by the final of 20-7 on Senior Day. They needed both Bryant and SHU to both lose to make the postseason, however. Both teams won its matches, ending the Bobcats season.

“It was a great win today,” Quinnipiac head coach Danie Caro said afterwards. “We played one of our better games as a group today, and I think that showed in the outcome.”

Senior Sarah Allen led the way in her final game at Quinnipiac. The all-time program leader in points had four assists and three goals. Allen finishes with 64 points on the season, and 148 for her four-year career.

“Today we all supported one-another well, which made it easy to grab the win,” Allen said. “My time here at Quinnipiac has been great,” she added, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Kiera Carey, Chelsea Guerrera, and Lianne Toomey round out the Bobcat seniors. Toomey had two goals, Carey had one goal and one assist, and Guerrera had one goal on the day. The four were recognized in a ceremony before the game along with student-assistant coach Emily Mason.

“It’s a great group,” Guerrera said, speaking of the senior class. “We are all very close, and we really enjoyed playing together.”

“The senior class has been a great group all the way up through,” Caro said. “They’re hard working, dedicated, and really set a good example for the others.”

Michaela Tinsley led the Bobcats with four goals on the day. She also contributed with two assists.

Samantha Tilts got the start in goal, giving up six goals on 11 shots. Rachel Massicotte played the last 11-plus minutes, giving up two goals.

With the victory, Quinnipiac remains a perfect 12-0 all-time against the Red-Flash.
