The last time Quinnipiac women’s ice hockey played a regular season home game was Dec. 8, when they defeated Princeton 4-0.

Friday night against Brown, they picked up right where they left off.

Nicole Connery and Kelly Babstock each scored two goals, Victoria Vigilanti had a 38-save shutout, and Quinnipiac defeated the Brown (4-15-1, 3-12-0 ECAC) by the final score of 5-0 at the High Point Solutions Center at the TD Bank Sports Center.

The Bobcats (15-9-2, 9-5-1 ECAC) are currently on a four-game win streak at home.

“The energy was good tonight,” head coach Rick Seeley said afterwards. “We got some different people back in the lineup, and we made plays. Overall I thought it was a good effort.”

It didn’t take Quinnipiac long to grab the lead. Only 3:39 into the first period, Connery scored her first goal of the year after a scramble in front of the Brown net. Brittany Lyons and Kristen Tamberg were each credited with assist.

Connery then made it 2-0 with 14:15 left in the first period after she crashed in on a blocked pass and found the back of the net for her second goal in the game’s first six minutes. Again, assists from both Brittany Lyons and Kristen Tamberg.

For Connery, it was her eighth and ninth goal so far this season.

Babstock then followed up with her 22nd and 23rd goals of the season. The first one came only 10 seconds before the end of the first period, as she went top shelf to give Quinnipiac the 3-0 lead. Then, 2:23 into the second period, she netted her second goal of the night off a one-timer from out in front of the Brown goal.

For Babstock, her current number of 45 points so far this season (23 goals, 22 assists) in only 26 games places her in a tie for sixth place in the nation in scoring.

The final Quinnipiac goal was scored by Kristen Eklund with 2:04 remaining. It was her first of the year.

Quinnipiac outshot Brown 38-12 for the night.

On the other side, the Bears couldn’t get it past Vigilanti. Her effort was good for her third shutout of the season.

“I thought she (Vigilanti) was very sharp tonight,” Seeley said. “She adjusted to the game, as she always does, and she made some huge saves for us.”

The Bobcats are now 7-6-4 all-time against Brown. They remain home on Saturday for another ECAC matchup against Yale. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m.
