Keeping up with a cross country is tough. There is a lot of training which is physically and mentally demanding. The rigorous schedule can wear down the body and mind of a runner. But all these things are something that Carolyn Robin goes through everyday.
Robin, a member of the women’s cross country team, was named the NEC female cross country athlete of the week. She merited this award by being the top NEC finisher in the Stony Brook Invitational. She placed fifth overall in the field with a total time of 19:46. Robin’s finish helped the lady Bobcats to a fifth overall team finish with a total of 106 points.
In 2002, Robin sat out the cross country season due to injury, but was named women’s outdoor track MVP. In the New England Outdoor Championships, she finished tenth in a school record time of 17:50.36. Robin also became the first women in school history to finish a race in less than 18 total minutes. In the NEC Indoor Championships, Robin ran a school record time of 10:26.44 in the 3,000 meter race.
As a junior, Robin earned All-Northeast Conference honors in cross country. She was also named cross country and outdoor track team MVP.
Quinnipiac has taken control of the NEC cross country division in the NEC. Both the men’s and women’s team have finished at the top or near the top in every meet so far this season. With the constant effort that the two teams keep putting in, and the record breaking times that the runners keep finishing with, the teams look as though they will continue their outstanding ways.
