In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, the Town of Hamden has declared a local state of emergency, which began at 1 p.m. today, Sunday Oct. 28, and will remain in effect indefinitely.
According to a press release from the Office of the Mayor, Hamden High School will act as the town’s emergency shelter, beginning at 6 p.m. tonight. The high school will have generator power and will be staffed by Hamden’s Community Emergency Response Team and the Hamden Fire Department.
The shelter will provide cots, pillows and blankets, but those who choose to go to the shelter are reminded to bring their own clothing, toiletries, snacks, chargers for electronics, medications and extra bedding.
