“Confessions of a Shopaholic” is the perfect combination of romance and laughs for the shopaholic in everyone. Sophie Kinsella’s bestselling novels “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and “Shopaholic Takes Manhattan” serve as the basis for this hilarious movie.

Actress Isla Fisher is Rebecca Bloomwood, an eccentric and flashy fashionista whose love for clothing and accessories has driven her into serious debt; debt so severe she resorts to freezing her credit cards in giant blocks of ice so she will stop herself from using them. However, that tactic does not last very long. So, she takes a job at a financial magazine Successful Saving with charming Brit Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy) as her boss.

Rebecca believes if she proves to be a valuable employee for the financial segment of the publishing company then she can work her way up to her dream job as a writer for their top fashion magazine, Alette. Unfortunately for Rebecca, finance is much more difficult than she thought it would be. Her creativity helps her gain infamy after the first major article she writes concerning, ironically, managing debt, is dubbed a major success. She receives much acclaim for her witty metaphors and innovative ideas on a subject that she herself knows very little about.

Eventually, Rebecca’s talent and style are finally recognized by Allete’s editor-in-chief, Alette Naylor (Kristin Scott Thomas). Rebecca ends her shopaholic ways, auctioning off her entire wardrobe to get a crazed debt collector off her back and pay off the thousands of dollars she owes. Rebecca is able to salvage what is left of her romance with Luke and see the world with new meaning. Although the ending of the movie is mildly predictable, the storyline is filled with talent, humor, and charisma.
