After losing a similar played match Friday night, where the Bobcats scored just once on 43 shots, much of their poor luck continued Saturday, taking 33 shots without recording a goal.

“One of the problems we had, similar to last year, we’ve lost a little bit of our confidence,” Bobcats head coach Rand Pecknold said. “We’ll have some talks during the week, and be a little bit more mature about how we play our games.”

Quinnipiac had numerous power plays during the game where no goals were recorded, including two within the first 12 minutes of play. The Bobcats had another power-play opportunity just four minutes later on a St. Lawrence hooking call.

Missed chances continued into the second period, as Quinnipiac registered two more power plays, only to have them come out unsuccessful. Unsuccessful opportunities continued into the third period and overtime, when forward Kyle Flanagan sealed the game for the Saints with a wrap-around goal.

Despite the outcome, goaltender Eric Hartzell recorded an impressive 22 saves throughout 77 minutes of play.

“Its frustrating that every chance was right there in front of us, but we really didn’t have enough to just go get it. I know they’re tired, but you gotta find a way to get out of it and take that game over,” said Pecknold.

Quinnipiac looks to reverse their luck next weekend when they start a road trip against Colgate at 7 p.m. on Friday.
