Kellen Jones, Jeremy Langlois, Matthew Peca and Zach Tolkinen each registered a goal and an assist in the game.

“It’s nice to see we’re starting to mature from last year,” Quinnipiac head coach Rand Pecknold said. “We had a little bit of a roller coaster every game, two really good games in a row this weekend, tonight was pretty good too.”

Quinnipiac got the scoring started early, converting for two goals on their first four power plays, including Peca’s first career goal, a snipe into the upper left corner.

“Not many players we’ve had in college hockey can make that play, that’s a pretty tough angle … a pretty impressive first goal,” Pecknold said.

Emotions ran high late in the second period, when Bentley defenseman Mike Switzer got into a bout with Quinnipiac forward Bryce Van Brabant. After a questionable high hit, Switzer reacted by going for Brabant’s head, which landed him a game misconduct. The Bobcats took complete control from that point on, scoring two more goals in the third period to seal the victory.

“Quinnipiac physically dominated us in all aspects of the game: penalty kills, neutral zone, goaltending … all of the above,” Bentley head coach Ryan Soderquist said.

The Falcons’ stayed aggressive all game long, staying strong on the forecheck and landing a few big hits.

“You come together as a team, you pick each other back up, and you watch out for each other. It was good to see tonight, we have fun, that’s why we play the game,” Quinnipiac forward Scott Zurevinski said.

Bentley’s aggressive play wasn’t enough to stop the Quinnipiac’s offense, as the Bobcats netted two goals in each the second and third periods, including Langlois’ nation-leading seventh goal early in the third, a deke and shot into the lower right corner.

Quinnipiac squares off against Robert Morris in a two-game set this Friday and Saturday. Both faceoffs are set to begin at 7:05 p.m.
