University of Nevada Las Vegas women’s basketball associate head coach Roman Owen was named the next head coach of Quinnipiac women’s basketball, as announced by Quinnipiac Athletics Tuesday morning.
“Roman Owen is an exceptional leader with a proven track record of developing student‑athletes and building championship caliber programs,” Quinnipiac Athletic Director Greg Amodio said in a statement.
In six years with the Lady Rebels, Owen helped lead the squad to a 128-30 overall record including a 70-11 record in the Mountain West conference under head coach Lindy La Rocque. Prior to his time in Las Vegas, he spent a season as the assistant coach of the University of North Texas women’s basketball program and three years as an assistant coach for Yale’s women’s basketball program.
“I would like to thank Greg Amodio and President Marie Hardin for this tremendous opportunity to lead the Quinnipiac women’s basketball program,” Owen said. “A strong foundation is in place, and I look forward to building on it as we pursue conference championships and postseason success.”
