Quinnipiac University’s Student Programming Board announced Wednesday that The Driver Era will perform at the annual Wake the Giant concert April 26 at the M&T Bank Arena.
The alternative rock duo, made up of brothers Rocky and Ross Lynch, formed in 2018 and has since built their identity in the music industry. Their sound blends elements of pop, funk and rock music, with popular tracks being “A Kiss,” “Afterglow” and “Preacher Man.” Their most well-known album, “X,” released in 2019 and has accumulated over 203 million streams.
The duo gained widespread attention in part due to Ross Lynch’s time on Disney Channel, most known for his roles as Austin in “Austin and Ally” and Brady in “Teen Beach Movie.” His roles and his involvement in Disney’s music scene helped him build a large fanbase, which later carried over into the duo’s popularity.
Today, the duo has 1.5 million followers on Instagram and 724.6 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify.
