Quinnipiac men’s ice hockey former center captain Matthew Peca has been selected to the Team Canada roster for the 2025 Spengler Cup.
The Ontario, Canada native skated for the Bobcats from 2011-15, recording 143 points throughout his career with Quinnipiac. His impressive 39-point freshman campaign earned him a spot on the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team, making him the third Bobcat at the time to receive the honor.
Peca is currently in his fifth season with the Springfield Thunderbirds, the affiliate of the St. Louis Blues, while having bounced around the professional league, playing for the Syracuse Crunch, Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens, Laval Rocket, Ottawa Senators, Belleville Senators and the St. Louis Blues.
Peca will face off against current Bobcat sophomore forward Chris Pelosi, as the two go head-to-head in the classic USA vs Canada rivalry.
