On Monday, Oct. 20 Quinnipiac University announced the appointment of Dr. Lisa Coplit as the new dean of Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, according to a press release. After a national search, the announcement was made by Provost Debra Liebowitz.
“Dr. Coplit has distinguished herself as a national leader who translates vision into measurable impact,” Liebowitz said. “She brings a clear sense of institutional priorities and mission, the boldness to innovate that this moment demands, and a dedication to excellence in education and patient care that make our graduates the medical leaders of tomorrow.”
Coplit has served as the interim dean since July 2025, following former dean Phillip Boiselle who left at the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
“A founding leader of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine, Dr. Coplit has held several senior positions since the school’s inception, including associate dean for faculty development, interim senior associate dean for education and senior associate dean for faculty affairs,” the press release wrote.
Coplit is an alumna of Boston University’s School of Medicine where she completed medical school and her residency as well as her chief resident training in internal medicine. Coplit also attended the Harvard Macy Program for Physician Educators and the Stanford Faculty Development Program in Clinical Teaching Skills.
Prior to joining Quinnipiac, Coplit served as director of the Institute for Medical Education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, according to the press release.
Coplit has numerous awards and recognitions under her belt — including awards for teaching excellence and contributions to advancing medical education on a national level.
As she assumes her role effective immediately, Coplit is eager for this next chapter at Quinnipiac.
“I am profoundly honored to be named the next dean of the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine,” she said. “Serving as interim dean has been the most meaningful chapter of my professional life, and I am inspired every day by our extraordinary students, and our deeply committed faculty, staff, clinical partners, and colleagues across the University. Together, we will ensure that QU Netter continues to grow as a leader in pioneering, community-engaged, and humanistic medical education – improving the health of the communities we serve, while shaping the future of medicine.”
