The Quinnipiac Student Government Association announced the results of the spring 2025 election April 15, welcoming 25 students to their respective positions for the 2025-26 academic year.
A total of 1,031 students voted in the election, 719 less than last year’s 1,750 votes
“The SGA Election Committee appreciates the student participation in this election, and hopes students continue to involve themselves in the Quinnipiac Community,” SGA wrote in an April 15 press release announcing the election results. “The Election Committee also values the candidates who stood for this election and applauds them for their passion and commitment.”
The current president, J.P. DiDonato, wraps up his time in SGA. During his term as president, two new club sports teams came to campus, more than 20 initiatives were created by SGA and about a dozen student organizations were chartered.
“It has been an incredible honor serving as President. This past year has been one full of accomplishments for the Student Government Association,” DiDonato wrote in an email to The Chronicle. “We’ve deepened our connection with the student body, and remained active voices in important discussions across campus from the presidential search to space allocation and housing.”
Zachary O’Connell, the current class of 2027 president, received 922 votes to secure the position of the new SGA President.
“I am excited to see Zach step into the role of SGA President after he spent his past two years leading his cabinet as Class President,” DiDonato wrote. “I am proud to be handing the gavel off to a friend and someone who has consistently demonstrated a commitment to improving the student experience.”
