On Wednesday, Jan. 24, the Student Government Association (SGA) had their first official meeting of this spring semester. They met to discuss a handful of upcoming events on campus.
President Aaron Blank and Vice President Steve Vindigni spoke of the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration, which was held on Jan. 26 in Alumni Hall. The program featured a powerful collaborative project that highlighted the African American fraternity and sorority art form of stepping.
The dance was traditional to South Africa and was performed by graduates of Howard University. Step Afrika was the first event at Quinnipiac to kickoff Black History Month. Steve Vindigni said that he was pleased with the mixture of faculty and students that came to see the performance.
Freshman class President, Steve Horney, encouraged all students to attend the opening of Club Q, a freshman sponsored dance. Club Q features three freshmen DJ’s, named DJ Tremors, Shorty and Vertical. Club Q opened Saturday, Jan. 27, from 8 p.m. to12 a.m. in Alumni Hall.
Other news regarding the class of `04 was that the freshmen class will have to hold a special election to replace two representatives who resigned due to personal reasons.
Vindigni also spoke of an upcoming MTV’s Real World visit. Puck, Danny Roberts and Julie Stoffer will speak at Quinnipiac in an interactive question and answer session. They will discuss their private lives and life on The Real World.
This event will take place on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. in the Athletic Center.
