For just the fifth time in program history the Quinnipiac Bobcats men’s lacrosse team scored 20 goals in a game, its first time since 2002. Fifteen different players recorded a point in the 20-3 win against Wagner.
Christian Haggerty led the offensive explosion with three goals, including two in the first four minutes. The Seahawks scored just under six minutes into the first quarter to cut the deficit to 1, but that would be as close as they would get.
The Bobcats (1-1) scored the next 14 goals, including eight in the second quarter. All eight goals were scored by different players. The Bobcats led 16-1 before Wagner (0-2) scored again. The Seahawks struck twice in the fourth quarter, but it was far too little, too late.
The Bobcats scored the last five goals, including Brendan Wilbur’s first career goal to put the exclamation point on the win.
The Bobcats return to action on March 7 when the face Detroit-Mercy in Detroit.
