Shaggy’s disc keeps listeners in the groove

Five years ago, Grammy Award winner Shaggy was on top of the music world. With songs like “Angel” and male anthem “It Wasn’t Me,” this Jamaican rapper was making a mark for himself in the music world. However, as fast as his rise to fame escalated, so did his decline. After his five minutes of fame, Shaggy continued producing tracks, but none selling and gaining the notoriety as his precedent hit singles.

Now, he is back, with a new flavor and album. His latest record, “Clothesdrop” definitely shows Shaggy can rise to the occasion and produce hot, popular songs to the music scene again. This album includes 17 songs plus 5 bonus tracks.

His first single, “Wild2Nite,” features first lady of G-Unit, Olivia. This song has an addictive beat that will start any party. “Wild2Nite” is a passionate song that describes a steamy encounter with a woman at a club and is definitely more edgy than “It Wasn’t Me.”

Romantic slow song “Would You Be” asks a girl if she would be offended if he compliments her. “Would you be” provides a smooth dual performance by Shaggy and a catchy hook by singer Brian “Gold” Thompson. This song will guarantee to be played on repeat until it begins to skip.

Besides party and romantic jams, Shaggy brings a more personal element to his album. “Repent” describes world issues that surround our daily lives. He does not blame anyone, but prays to God that everyone will repent for their actions.

“Back in the Days” explains Shaggy’s struggles in his past. He raps that none of the girls wanted to be his girlfriend and no one wanted to be his friend. Now that he is famous, the tables have turn; now he is dating supermodels and has plenty of friends.

Guest appearances for “Clothesdrop” include Will.I.Am of the Black Eye Peas, Olivia, Nicole Scherzinger of The Pussycat Dolls, as well as many more of today’s hottest hip-hop stars. The appealing Jamaican beats, catchy hooks, and numerous song subjects will bring this album home to any listener.

His talent as an artist, which he presents as a more mature, sensual, and edgy rapper, and his distinctive Jamaican accent will bring music to anyone’s ear. “Clothesdrop” is certainly one to be purchased to integrate in anyone’s music library; you will not be disappointed.
