SPB to offer free movies this semester

Quinnipiac’s Student Programming Board (SPB) has released a tentative schedule of free activities that will happen on campus for the spring 2004 semester. Part of the Student Government Association, SPB works to plan movies, concerts, a cultural event, lectures and other fun activities at no charge to Quinnipiac students.

An Apollo Night is being planned for Feb. 20, and will feature student performers in a showcase hosted by a professional comedian. For all ski and snowboard enthusiasts, SPB is partnering with QUSNOW to sponsor a trip to Killington Ski Resort on Feb. 29. If the cold weather gets you down, book your ticket to Acapulco with QU, for its Spring Break trip, March 6-13.

Free movie screenings that will take place this semester started last weekend with “Love Actually,” and will continue throughout the semester with films such as “The Las Samurai,” “Radio,” “Mona Lisa Smile,” and the romantic comedy “50 First Dates,” featuring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Students who will be hosting their younger family members for this year’s Little Sibling’s Weekend can watch “Finding Nemo” March 19-21 at no charge.

In past years, the board has invited students to take part in trips to Red Sox or Yankee games, Broadway shows, and to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York City.

To help plan events, students are encouraged to join the Student Programming Board, and can contact Vice President of Programming Lianna Hartford at [email protected] for more information.
