    Students get into The Func

There is a new organization on campus aimed towards activism and alerting people of the political, social, and environmental causes that face our society today.

The Future is Us Now Coalition, otherwise known as The Func, wants to get the word out and promote peace, fair trade, and responsible use of our natural resources, workers rights, and social policies.

The Func is a progressive student organization devoted to creating a new approach to the problems in our society relying on the basic principals of love, compassion, and healing in all aspects of social, economic, environmental, and spiritual life.

The organization is run by three main executive officers; the FuncMaster, the Minister of Good Vibes, and the Minister of Financial Stuff.

The FuncMaster provides the basic layout of the organization. The Minister of Good Vibes is in charge of creating a positive attitude for the group, and the Minister of Financial Stuff is in charge of keeping records of the Func’s finances and planning the budget.

FuncMaster Jason Pollens has taken over the organization this semester and is planning to get the campus involved in social activities.

“One of our mains goals is to make the campus aware of what is going on in the world so that they can take a more active role as citizens,” said Pollens.

The Func will be planning some events throughout the rest of the semester that should help get their messages heard.

On Saturday, Feb. 15, they will participate with other colleges in the area for an anti-war protest in New York City. A charted train will be provided for transportation.

The Func is also planning to have speakers on campus, as well as workshops and debates to help get important issues out to the public.

They are also hoping to organize a trip for members to the United Nations, the beach and highway cleanup campaigns.

While The Func does not yet have a specific date or place for meetings, there will be postings in the student center regarding meeting information.

Anyone who is looking to make a change, help out or simply learn more about what is going on in the world, is welcome to the meetings.
