    Internship opportunity available

Students are now offered a chance to work in Connecticut’s State Capitol in Hartford for the spring semester, with a Nov. 1 deadline approaching for submissions and applications.
Those students who choose to be a part of the Legislative Internship Program will work closely with state senators or representatives and will be given academic internship credit at Quinnipiac. A travel stipend will also be awarded to cover the cost of travel to and from Hartford. Both part-time and full-time internships are available, and they are not limited to students majoring in political science. Prior political experience is not required.
The program begins during the third week of January and ends in May. A student will be working with his or her assigned legislator throughout the General Assembly’s legislative session, and a series of seminars will be held to provide the intern with additional components of the political process.
Selection for the program is made by the Committee on Legislative Staff Internships, and the committee will select 90 interns based on personal interviews.
To obtain an application to this program, contact adviser Fred Beckenstein in the Political Science Department. His office is in CLA 309, and he can be reached at 582-8792.
