Spring feelings: How your body responds to love

Kellie Gleeson

It is that time of the year again – Spring. Birds are singing, the sun is shining, and people are falling in love.
Everywhere you look, people are walking arm in arm. They are staring intently into each other’s eyes. Their hearts are pounding and their palms are sweating.
But, this is only the beginning stage of love.
Scientific studies have proven that if you stay with a person and stay in love with that person for many years, it will actually affect your health and body in positive ways.
Dr. Glenn Wilson, an American Psychologist, told Femail Magazine that chemicals in your brain are affected when you find “That Special Someone.”
The main chemical that your body releases is called Phenylethylamine. It acts almost like an amphetamine.
Do you know that feeling, when your heart rate increases, your blood pressure rises and your skin becomes flushed and you can hardly breath?
It does not just happen because you saw that special someone. It happened because your adrenal glands released an excessive amount of Adrenaline and Noradrenaline.
Your muscles and posture are also affected when in love. Your muscle tone increases and your posture straightens. This is because the chemicals being released cause a sense of euphoria.
What this means is that you become excited, and want to get more of this sensation. When you do not get this sensation, you become sad, causing the body to bend over and muscles tone to decrease.
When in love, your brain is also affected. Four parts are mostly influenced.
The first two parts are the sections that affect happiness and good feelings. When in love, these parts work over-time.
The last two parts deal with negative and positive emotions. These parts recognize that the feeling is a good feeling.
Because you remain happy, the part of your brain that reacts to depression also goes into a state of repression.
Activities that go along with being in love are also helpful to your health.
These activities slow down the aging process and keep you healthy. Vigorous actions cause more oxygen to flow to the skin surface. This makes you look younger.
Because of these actions, the levels of T3 and T4 are being boosted; it cuts down infections by 20 percent. Therefore, it makes you remain healthy and live longer.
If you were scared of falling in love; don’t worry. It will only make you live longer, and stay happier.
