    Celebrities show off their lifestyles here in Connecticut

    When we think of movie
    stars, we think of luxurious places like Beverly Hills and the Hamptons. In actuality, many movie stars come to Connecticut’s Litchfield County to take refuge from the busy New York streets. They find comfort, privacy and relaxation in their colonial mansions among the tranquil lakes and rolling hills.
    Celebrities, world-renowned writers and big business players have long been drawn to Connecticut. One of the biggest reasons is because it is close to New York City, but more importantly, they have found that they are not bothered here. They are rarely asked for an autograph or a picture. Properties come equipped with long driveways and magnificent views of the countryside and water. The homes have fireplaces, state-of-the-art kitchens, master bedroom suites and various other spacious bedrooms for family members or guests.
    Over 50 celebrities and notable people live throughout Litchfield County. Some of the homes have only three bedrooms, while others are larger and equipped with indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and basketball courts, or even gymnasiums.
    Actor Kevin Bacon and actress Kyra Sedgwick own a $1million colonial house in Sharon, Conn. It has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and it is 3,681 square feet. The house has a swimming pool, stable with loft and over 100 acres of land.
    Actress Susan Saint James and husband Dick Ebersol, president of NBC sports, have a $1.5 million colonial house in Litchfield. It has sixteen rooms with seven bedrooms and five bathrooms. The house is also equipped with a swimming pool, a tennis court and a green house.
    Playwright Arthur Miller, who was formally married to Marilyn Monroe, owns a $1 million 1785 colonial house in Roxbury. The house is 2,845 square feet, and it has a total of ten rooms, including four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The property in Miller’s posession also has a second house, a barn and 40 acres of land.
    Talk show host Conan O’Brien has a $1.4 million colonial house in Washington. It has nine rooms with four bedrooms, three bathrooms and 3,240 square feet, with a heated three-car garage, an extra apartment and a swimming pool.
    Actor Rip Torn has a $209,000 old style house, which has six rooms with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
    Various other celebrities, artists, fashion designers, and powerful business executives live throughout Litchfield county. Connecticut is filled with beautiful rural countrysides and it’s a great place to get away from the stress and daily routine of everyday life – even for celebrities!
