The two words “spring break” bring about heaps of different thoughts. Spring break is celebrated by many, yet in very different ways. Some go away with friends, others with family and then some just stay home.
For some college students, spring break means time to party somewhere hot and exotic, while some students choose an alternative spring break. Still others go home and spend time with family and friends. Whichever way you choose to celebrate, there are tons of places to go and activities to do in order to keep busy.
Many college students view spring break as a week full of partying. If this is something that sounds appealing, there are many places to go with friends. If you’re looking to go to the craziest spring break hot spots, About.com (student travel), has listed the top 10 college spring break destinations. These destinations include Cancun, Acapulco and the Bahamas. Companies such as STA travel have made it cheaper and easier for students to travel. These companies include packages complete with cheap airfare, a place to stay, transportation, etc. all for a great price.
Cruises are also great to consider. Often the trips are all inclusive so it helps to save money and have a good time. Another bonus is that cruises go to many places.
This year “going green” seems to be quite trendy. Instead of partying over spring break, why not help the world you live in? Many places still need help rebuilding from Hurricane Katrina in the United States, such as New Orleans and Mississippi. Or consider helping poor towns in other countries by building. Check out Habitat For Humanity to see where you can go this spring break to meet new people and give to the community at the same time.
Not planning on going away?
No need to worry. There are many fun things to do while at home. Most colleges have different spring breaks, so gather some friends who are home, or go by yourself, and take a road trip to a friend’s school. This is a great way to keep in touch, and have a good time.
Another thing to do is Google your own town and surrounding towns and find some interesting places that you never knew existed, and go see it. If you’re from or around New Jersey, check out weirdNJ.com and the places they have listed. There are interesting places in mostly every state, so look them up and check them out.
Scrapbooking is also a great way to spend time. Take all the pictures you have from college thus far and decorate them into a book to keep and look at in the future to remember all the great times from Quinnipiac.
Being away at school limits one’s time with family. If you’re not going anywhere this spring break, why not spend time with your loved ones that you don’t see while you’re away? Spend a day at the spa getting massages with mom, or have a dinner and movie date with dad.
Spring break does not necessarily have to mean partying all week long, but it also does not have to mean sitting on the couch all day. Spring break is right around the corner so make sure to spend your time wisely!
