This weekend, The Albert Schweitzer Institute will bring Dr. Jane Goodall to campus as the keynote speaker for a conference on “The Reverence for Life Revisited.” Goodall is a world-famous primatologist and author who has done work with chimpanzees. She will discuss the impact Dr. Schweitzer had on her work with these animals.

The Institute has sponsored several programs, but feels that people should learn more about the work of Dr. Schweitzer.

“It is our goal to change that perception on campus and to begin to change that perception of the rest of the world,” said David Ives, executive director of the Albert schweitzer Institute.

Dr. Goodall will be speaking both Friday and Saturday. Students, faculty, staff members, and members of the community are encouraged to attend.

Saturday at 10:30 a.m. the “Reverence for Life in the New Millennium” panel discussion featuring Dr. Goodall will take place in Alumni Hall. After a break for lunch, there will be two sets of panel discussions on campus from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. and 3:15 to 4:30 p.m.

The second afternoon panel will feature university professors from Quinnipiac and beyond, along with Michelle Coutts and Christopher Weaver, two Quinnipiac students.

A public reception will follow the panels at the Schweitzer Institute. Dr. Christiane Engel, granddaughter of Albert Schweitzer will play with the Stern Quartet Prague in Clarice L. Buckman Theater at 7:00 p.m.
