Avenoso has been nothing short of spectacular for the Bobcats thus far this season. She’s tallied six goals, three assists and registered 15 total points in helping the ‘Cats get off to a 7-5 start. The team currently sits in first place in the Northeast Conference with a conference record of 4-1 and a 5-3 record at home.

The 5-foot-8 forward was selected to the womensfieldhockey.com national weekly honor roll after her late game heroics propelled the team to a 2-1 overtime victory over NEC foe Monmouth. Avenoso notched the game-tying goal with 15 ticks remaining in the fourth frame before connecting on the sudden-death, game-winner that sealed the game in overtime.

She followed this game up with a pair of goals and an assist in a victory over Robert Morris, another division rival. Avenoso has already collected three game-winning goals this season.

Those nine points in two games earned her NEC field hockey player of the week honors.

Most impressive, however, is the fact that Avenoso’s achieved so much after sitting out the entire 2004 season with an injury.

Coach Becca Kohli on Avenoso: “Danielle is a player that constantly makes your jaw drop. She is a pure talent and her athleticism coupled with her speed and scoring ability makes her a triple threat on the field. I am very thankful she plays for Quinnipiac and not against us. “
