Sports are my life. I live it, breathe it and eat it. Nothing is better than watching a game in the middle of July with a cold drink and the grill sizzling some burgers and dogs.
The Chronicle has allowed me to take my love for sports and let me give it to you, the Quinnipiac student body for the last two years.
My vision of Quinnipiac sports has been expressed on these three pages for half of my college career and now it is time for me to move on to the real world.
When I took over at the end of my sophomore year two years ago, this was without a doubt one of the worst sections in the paper.
Now, it is the best college sports section in the Northeast. And that is a fact. The story content, layout and overall information has kept students coming back and has given athletes something to send home to their parents. And I am proud of that.
Thank you to all the athletes and coaches who have ever e-mailed me or spoken to me in person and thanked me because their team was covered in last week’s issue or their picture appeared somewhere on pages 14, 15 or 16.
There are many people affiliated with this paper who I would like to thank. My writers who have been with me for my tenor: I appreciate all the hard work and sacrifices you guys have made to make this section the best it has ever been. The advisors for keeping me in line and allowing me to make sports my vision. Although we got off on the wrong foot, thanks for sticking with me. My supervisors here at The Chronicle, you have given me the skills and ability to recognize news and report it effectively.
And as I leave Hamden in May, it is not just for the summer, it is for good. But for everyone coming back to Quinnipiac in the fall, make the best of it. Do not complain about something that can be changed. Take action. Write a petition or an article and get your voice out there because, as I have learned, you are not the only one who feels that way.
And with that, the curtain closes and the lights go out and I won’t be back for an encore.
