Graduation is right around the corner. Seniors are just a few weeks away from completing a fun-filled, rewarding and intellectual college career here at Quinnipiac University.

Senior Week consists of the immediate days leading up to commencement on Sunday. This week is comprised of events, like an on campus barbeque, a party at Toad’s in New Haven, May Weekend-style activities, a boat cruise and of course, the President’s reception and senior banquet.

As it seems, planning for this amazing week is an arduous task that is very time consuming, requires dedication, leadership, and a desire for camaraderie in one’s last days as a college undergraduate.

In October, a committee was chosen to represent the senior class in preparing for this week. It is truly an honor for a senior to serve on such a committee, a committee responsible for bringing together the entire class, 530 attendees to be exact, in a way that no other event can.

Committee co-chairs this year were chosen to be Michael Labella and Kristin Reilly. Both of these students, although well involved on campus, feel that being the chair of the Senior Week committee is a true honor and privilege.

“Senior Week will provide each senior with memories that will last a lifetime. As co-coordinator of senior week it is my goal, and the committee’s goal to provide our senior class with the best possible senior week,” Michael Labella, senior, said. “I believe that everyone involved in Senior Week will have a great time and absolutely love it.”

“My main goal, when getting involved with Senior Week, was to be a part of planning a memorable event for my class, and I really think we have achieved that,” Kristin Reilly, senior public relations major, said in regards to what she expects seniors to get out of senior week.

“I think Senior Week is an important event because it gives seniors a chance to spend a few days unwinding together before graduation, which is a major transition. I also think it is a great way for seniors, who have been living off campus, to reconnect with the campus, since it gives us a chance to live in the residence halls one last time,” Reilly said.

Nicole Murphy, senior public relations major, serves as the committee’s director of public relations. Other members of the senior class are in charge of coordinating and carrying out the events that go on throughout the week.

Members of the junior class can apply to asist with Senior Week by helping event coordinators throughout the planning process and taking over once the week begins so that even members of the committee can enjoy this special time.

Applications to become a Junior Representative for Senior Week are available to all juniors at the Student Center office, SC214. All applications are due by Feb. 20.
