The Quinnipiac women’s field hockey team has approached the half way mark in their season, compiling a 3-5-0 overall-record that includes a 1-0-0 record in NEC competition and a 2-5-0 record in non-conference games.

The team’s scoring leaders are sophomore Kristen McCarthy who has two goals and six points and junior Jill DiSanti who has tallied two goals and five points.

The field hockey team has made nine out of their 62 shots attempted on goal, with a 1.11 goals per game average.

The team has registered 27 total points.

On September 24, the Bobcats played against Hofstra University. It was the Bobcats first game against a ranked opponent this season.

Sophomore Kristen McCarthy scored her second goal of the season, allowing QU to take the lead and win the game 1-0, against the previously sixteenth nationally ranked and undefeated, Hofstra.

Goalie, Erin McKay made 14 saves helping to lead the Bobcats to the pivotal victory. McKay has made 38 saves in her last two starts this season.

After winning their first non-conference game of the season at the neutral site of Yale, the Bobcats set their sights on recording win number two against the University of Vermont.

On September 26, Quinnipiac was able to defeat the Catamounts, gaining their second non-conference win in three days.

Junior Chelsea Osbrey scored the lone goal of the game, giving QU the 1-0 victory. Freshman Meghan DeCesairs was able to complete a pass into the middle of the circle, allowing Osbrey to make a turn around shot from the circle.

This game was McKay’s third shutout of the season.

The field hockey team only has two home games left, one on October 14 against Bucknell University and on October 26 against Siena College. The game against Siena will be the Bobcats’ Senior Day.
