Maurice Clarett is ruining the greatest opportunity of his life. By not cooperating with authorities and Ohio State administration, he has been suspended for the season, leaving question whether he will be able to compete on a high level next year. That hasn’t scared Grambling University away though, who want Clarett to transfer to the Bayou…Michigan has almost proved that Notre Dame isn’t all they’re cracked up to be. A 38-0 thumping in Ann Arbor will have people rethinking the hype around Ty Willingham and the Fighting Irish…After steam rolling North Carolina and Maryland, Florida State was taken to the wire by unranked Georgia Tech. In fact the Seminoles were down 13-0 in the fourth quarter before Chris Rix shook off his sluggish start to led the ‘Noles to the ‘W.’ Maybe Rix has grown up from his childish attitude last season…When UNLV went to Wisconsin and beat the Badgers 23-5, it wasn’t as much of a dominate victory as it seemed. Wisconsin killed themselves by losing three fumbles and throwing two interceptions which resulted in 20 Runnin’ Rebel points. Without the five turnovers, the score turns into a baseball game, 5-3, Badgers on top…Early favorites for the Heisman Trophy are probably two guys that most people have never heard of, running back Chris Perry of Michigan and quarterback David Greene of Georgia. Headline players such as quarterbacks Phillip Rivers of North Carolina State and Eli Manning of Ole Miss have started out sluggish and have fallen behind the rest of the pack early on…Senior running back Brandon Warfield of Utah leads the country in rushing yards with 448 yards and touchdowns with 7, so why isn’t away mentioning his name for Heisman consideration? Probably because he has one catch for three yards…Kliff Kingsbury who?? Texas Tech may have been missing him before the season started, but B.J. Symons has made the Red Raider faithful forget all about Kingsbury’s 45 touchdown passes a season ago. As of now, Symons is on pace to surpass Kingsbury’s mark with a total of 52…UConn has shown that they aren’t totally prepared to battle major Division 1A opponents. After beating Iowa State in the season finally last season and Indiana in the home opener this season, they were stomped by perennial bowl contender Boston College 24-14. Talk about a Big East invite may be on hold for next season
