Erin Riley is a self-proclaimed, “kid at heart.” But, she admits she tries to not act like one. Riley, a 21-year old, senior occupational therapy major from Rocky Hill, Conn. has definitely taken advantage of her time here at Quinnipiac.
Riley is a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma, in which she has served as fundraising chair, as well as being a member on its judicial board. Riley’s favorite memory as fundraising chair is organizing the “Topless Car Wash,” where they “wash everything except the top of the car.”
As to her time spent at Quinnipiac, Riley said, “It has been the four best years of my life, it will be hard to leave the lifestyle, my sisters and friends.”
One of the most memorable events for Riley is Phi Sigma Sigma’s Sapphire Ball. Riley said, “Aside from May Weekend, it’s the last fun thing to do at the end of the year.”
On top of being a student center manager and a sister of Phi Sigma Sigma Riley still has a demanding schedule of classes as an OT major. It’s all worth it according to Riley.
“The OT senior class is very close and we have had a lot of memories together,” she said.
Riley said she was going to miss the OT faculty and that they were great to us.
Being a student center manager Riley likes the fact that she is aware of most of the events and activities that take place on campus on a weekly basis. Riley also said she likes the people in the office she works with, and “enjoys going to work every week.”
Mindy Sutton, assistant director of the Carl Hansen Student Center and Student Leadership Development, said, “I really like Riley. She is always optimistic and a ray of sunshine, which makes our job rewarding to work with students like her.”
As for future plans, Riley will be finishing up work with two internships. One is at the Gaylord Rehab Hospital in the inpatient unit in Wallingford, Conn. and the other is in New Jersey at Saint John of God were she will be doing pediatric therapy.
Riley thinks of graduation as “scary,” but with her great personality and skills that she has acquired at Quinnipiac she has no reason to be scared. There is no doubt that she will be ready to make a difference in the real world and the lives of all she meets especially those fortunate enough to be her future patients.
