Many campus wide issues were discussed at the Feb. 6, meeting of the Student Government Association.
The AT&T on campus phone charge is affecting students’ credit if they do not use the service.
All students must pay a $25 fee per semester in order to use the phones on campus. Originally, it was said that, the phone charge would not affect credit if you did not use it.
Senior class representative Nick Lioi met with Bob Rickert, Assistant Director of Administrative Services to discuss the issue. Mr. Rickert said he would look into and resolve the conflict with AT&T.
The shuttle buses will no longer be going down all of Dorm Road. The bus will go as far as the Hill/Village circle as there has been problems with cars being parked on the side of the road, hence hindering the Shuttle from getting by.
Cars in North Lot are not allowed to park in the fire lane. They will start being towed. Security will start enforcing this policy and cars will be towed.
Next year, First Aid Kits including band-aids, gauze and other health products will be available in all dorms.
Shower stools have been obtained in the bathrooms of Irma, Dana, the Commons and the Ledges. They were distributed this past week.
SGA will be having a hot topic discussion on changing the duration of spring break from one to two weeks. Student imput in regards to this possibility is encouraged.
When SGA gets the list of mascot name choices, there will be an open forum for all students to discuss the possibilities. The choices will be given to Alumni, Faculty, Administration and students. The Board of Trustees will then vote on what will be the new mascot.
Student Government will also be raising money for the Steve Pawlowski and Jessica Gambon funds through a penny war. The object of the penny war is to put pennies in your classes jar and put silver coins and dollar bills in the other classes. The coins and dollar bills will be subtracted from the pennies and the class with the most pennies will win.
Freshmen class representative Lianna Hartford was this month’s member of the month for her hard work and dedication to SGA. She has helped out with not only her class, but has helped multiple SGA committees with their work.
Appeals have been granted to the Montage, WQAQ, Christian Fellowship, TREE and the Brave Yearbook
Meetings of the Student Government Association are open to all students.
All students are welcome to attend SGA’s committee meetings. The Social Programming Board (SPB) meets on Mondays at 4:15 p.m. in SC207. The Student Concerns committee meets on Fridays at 2 p.m. in SC 207. The Finance committee meets in SC212 at 8:30 a.m. on Thursdays, and the Public Relations committee meets on Fridays at 3 p.m. in SC212.
Meetings are held in the Student Center, room 207 on Wednesdays at 4:15 p.m. The SGA office is located in the Student Center, room 212.
