At the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Tina Fey prevailed against Jennifer Aniston (“30 Rock”), Christine Baranski (“The Big Bang Theory”), Gena Rowlands (“Monk”), Elaine Stritch (“30 Rock”) and Betty White (“My Name is Earl”) in the category for Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her uncanny impression of former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin on “Saturday Night Live.” Fey’s victory is deserving and one of the few choices Emmy voters expertly voted on this year (so far). Her performance as Palin was fall-on-the floor hysterical and her impression arguably impacted one of the most important Presidential races of all time. Fey’s winning reel included the Katie Couric interview reenactment, the Vice Presidential debate (featuring a fun cameo from Queen Latifah as journalist Gwen Ifill) and the White House meeting between George W. Bush, John McCain and Palin, which included the return of Will Ferrell as Bush. As Palin, Tina Fey’s charm and exuberance shined through and showed viewers that she was more than a look-alike sexy librarian who only sits behind the Weekend Update news desk. Tina Fey can do more than read lines or write a funny script; she is an actress and impressionist, and has proven why she has won so many awards for her acting in the last few years between “Saturday Night Live” and “30 Rock” alone.
