Is it just me, or are you forced to peep out a smile when someone stares at you directly in the eye?
Ever since my roommates, Stephen Strait and Connor Gillivan, gave me their conspicuous stare downs in the beginning of the school year, I haven’t been able to stop smiling.
I have no idea why a simple stare from them could cause me to grin, and sometimes even burst into laughter. It might be my optimistic attitude or it might be the general positivity of my room. Either way, I love it.
I know that some people will react to stares in the exact opposite way that I do – they find it awkward and uncomforting. Although, I can understand this reaction if the person staring at them is a stranger. But I think that if you know the person that is staring, it should only brighten up the mood.
Just to make sure we are all on the same page, I am only touching on when people are staring directly at your eyes – not other anatomical parts – because that’s just rude.
Anyways, I think this could be the start of a new fad. There are so many times throughout the average day when you encounter awkward situations with your buddies. These moments could be spun around to humorous joy, and even be turned into fun memories with a little stare.
So, the next time someone you know is looking into your eyes, don’t be freaked out by it; just play along.
P.S.: If you are laughing at this idea of a solution for avoiding awkward situations, then you tell me what your ideas are to solve these unexpected instances.
