This year’s WQAQ Spring Concert was definitely a success, according to WQAQ General Manager DJ Bernat, but making it a success was not easy. One band, Bear Hands, cancelled their appearance the day of the show, only to renege ten minutes later.
“Apparently they thought it was going to take longer than it did to get their car fixed,” Bernat said. “Then they called back and said they would come, but they lost their trailer. So they had to drive up here with all their stuff in a Jeep.”
Indie rockers Manchester Orchestra headlined the show that also included Bear Hands, Cut Off Your Hands, and Great Caesar and the GoGetters, winners of this year’s Battle of the Bands at Quinnipiac.
According to Music Director Mike Farrell, over 400 people attended the concert. Farrell and fellow Music Director Fred Hoxsie were responsible for choosing what bands to bring in, as well as contract negotiation.
