In a first half that looked like it was going to be an easy route to victory for the Quinnipiac Bobcats, the Wagner Seahawks reminded the Bobcats that the playoffs are around the corner with a 75-66 victory.

With the Bobcats trailing by one with 17:30 left, four different Bobcats chipped in on the Bobcats 10-2 run to give the Bobcats a 13-6 lead. However, the rest of the half would not look too good for the Bobcats.

The Bobcats could not find their shooting on the court following their seven-point-lead. In the final thirteen minutes, they were 9-for-24 from the field and 1-for-5 from the free throw line, while committing six turnovers.

Joey Mundweiler, a senior guard for the Seahawks, knocked down three three-pointers to gain a lead. With the Bobcats leading 24-20 with 6:45 remaining in the half, the Seahawks went on an 17-6 run to pull ahead to a 37-30 lead.

Early in the second half, the Seahawks continued to pull ahead, expanding their lead to 14 on a 7-0 run with 2:37 having gone by. The Bobcats did not get on the board in the half until Justin Rutty hit a free throw with 17:07 left in the half.

Once Rutty scored, the Bobcats slowly started to come back, going on a 14-6 run to make it a 50-45 game with 11:33 left. With 10:16 left, Seahawk, Clayhill Harris, missed a dunk. With the game still at a 50-45 score, the crowd was going crazy as the Bobcats looked to continue their comeback.

The Seahawks started to shoot from downtown attempting to expand their lead, but could not make many of their shots. With 4:34 left in the game, Rutty sank a jump shot to tie the game at 60.

The Bobcats would continue to stay in the game, but never pull ahead with the lead. In the final 2:50, the Seahawks went on a 13-4 run to secure the victory.

“The last four minutes were really frustrating,” Quinnipiac head coach Tom Moore said. “We had four plays [in the final four minutes] that we should have scored on, but we went blank.”

Feldeine, 18 points and seven rebounds, and Rutty, 13 points and nine rebounds, led the Bobcats. Wagner was led by Justin Drummond, who had a game-high 21 points and 10 rebounds.

“They are a senior team..they are experienced and kept making their shots,” Bobcats junior James Feldine said.
