Senior Courtney Kaminski joined an elite Quinnipiac crew on Wednesday, despite a 72-60 loss to the Holy Cross Crusaders.

Kaminski tallied her 1,000th point of her collegiate career in the first half after her second basket.

“It’s a tremendous honor and accomplishment at the Division I level to score 1,000 points,” Quinnipiac head coach Tricia Fabbri said. “She’s been a go-to player since her freshman year, and we’re excited that we have her back this year.”

Kaminski added six more points after her accomplishment, bringing her night’s total to 10 points, going 2-for-4 on free throws and 4-for-10 on two-point shots.

“It feels good,” Kaminski said. “It kind of feels like any other game though, so it was kind of rough since we came out as a loss. It’s a pretty big accomplishment. It’s something you should definitely feel good about.”

Along with Kaminski, three other players scored in double digits. Junior forward Jacki Mann went 6-for-6 from the field, totaling 12 points. Sophomore guard Felicia Barron tallied 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting; making two of her five three-point field goal attempts. Junior forward Jacinda Dunbar recorded 11 points (4-for-8), and shot 3-for-5 from the free throw line.

Alyssa Jann and Kari Goodchild went 3-for-3 and 2-for-2, respectively, on their free throw attempts.

“We didn’t shoot the free throws too well Friday night against Fairfield but, overall, traditionally, we’ve always been a strong free throw shooting team,” Fabbri said. “And thank God we got more to go in tonight. That really helped us.”

The Bobcats had 14 turnovers on the night.

“I thought they played really hard for us, but I don’t know how smart we played,” Fabbri said. “The effort was there, but we just could not get the ball in the basket, and we’re really having some difficulty scoring the ball. You’re not going to beat a lot of teams when you’re hovering around 40 points a game, so we got to figure it out.

“I firmly believe that we have the talent here to become a very good team and one that’s going to challenge for a championship. We’re just wading through the waters right now and trying to figure out who we need to be if teams are going to take away our transition games.”

The Bobcats travel to New York Sunday to take on St. Bonaventure at 1 p.m.
