The Quinnipiac University Student Awareness Committee, which is part of the Student Government Association, recently created a Web site that allows students to directly voice their complaints to the Student Government Association.

QUConcerns.com is a secure, easily accessible Web site that not only allows students to submit their concerns, but also to view the changes made by the Student Government Association to benefit campus life.

Mark Antonucci, the Vice President of Student Concerns, said that many students feel the Student Government Association has not been listening to the concerns and the needs of the students.

“QUConcerns.com serves as a progressive way for students to easily communicate with the SGA in a convenient, time-efficient way,” Antonucci said.

The Web site includes a “Campus Issue Form” which can be filled out by a student or faculty member with their phone number, e-mail address, and concern to be sent to one of a number of departments, including Academics, the Campus Book Store, Residential Life, Security, and many others. This form is then directly submitted for review by the SGA.

The Web site also features weekly updates on the concerns of students that have already been resolved by SGA.

For example, because of requests by students, the library hours on Friday have been extended until 10 p.m. Also, SGA is intent on installing hand sanitizers at the entrance to the cafeteria.

“This followed a plan to not only give students another medium,” Antonucci said. “But also for students to see the actions taking place to satisfy these concerns.”

Another interesting feature of QUConcerns.com is that it provides links to various student-run organizations on campus, as well as to Quinnipiac’s Greek Life. Antonucci said that this was put in place with the intent to more closely connect students with campus life.

“It helps promote other clubs and organizations that QU has to offer and shows that SGA is an association that supports all organizations whether they are funded by SGA or not which is why we made sure all four Greek organizations were linked on QUConcerns.com,” Antonucci said.

Many students feel that this website shows a significant effort by SGA to strengthen their relationship and communication with students. It has already received more than 200 hits.

Freshman Jeana Holliday was impressed by the convenience of the Web site.

“A lot of times, I have class and can’t go to the ‘Whine and Dines,'” Holliday said. “This web site is a great opportunity for me to still get my opinions out.”

Freshman Karlee Longhway agreed.

“I really like how they put up the resolutions of the SGA too,” Longhway said. “It’s comforting to physically see that they actually listen to us.”
