Oklahoma scored 50+ points in game for the fourth time this season, this time against number 11 Texas. Heisman dark horse Jason White had four touchdown passes for the Sooners who stomped the Longhorns 65-13. It did not hurt that Oklahoma’s defense forced six turnovers against the shaky Texas offense…Ohio State finally lost after numerous close calls early in the season. Although a 17-10 loss to the number 22 Wisconsin Badgers is not as devastating as a loss to unranked San Diego State or North Carolina State, two teams the Buckeyes beat by a combined nine points, it is still a significant set back to their Big Ten and National Championship hopes…How about the number six, seven, and eight ranked teams in the country all falling this past weekend to unranked opponents. Ron Zook and underachieving Florida beat number six LSU in the Bayou. The Tigers were able to manage their only score in the first quarter and gave up 19 points to Gators, who will be back in the top 25 again next week. Number seven ranked Nebraska was up 24-14 at the end of the third quarter against Missouri and looked to be in complete control. No one told the Tigers the game was over though, as they managed to manhandle the Cornhuskers in the final quarter, scoring 27 points, in route to a 41-24 trashing of the Huskers. Preseason favorite and regular season goose Auburn showed flashes of their talent as they beat number eight Arkansas in Little Rock. The Tigers’ running back, Cadillac Williams finally got on track with 150 yards rushing and scored the game’s only TD, that’s 72 yards more than the Razorbacks’ star tailback Cedic Cobbs had…Northern Illinois may be the most overlooked team in the top 25. The Huskies are now 6-0 after a 40-24 win at Central Michigan. After handling three nationally recognized teams early in the season, Maryland, Alabama, and Iowa State, the Huskies are now 2-0 in MAC play. The only team left on Northern Illinois’ schedule that could blemish the Huskies’ undefeated season is MAC rival Bowling Green, who scores more points per game than the 1999 St. Louis Rams. If they can win that game and survive the rest of their schedule, the Huskies will be in the top 10 at the end of the season…
