On Sept. 15, the Global Rhythm tour debuted at Quinnipiac as part of (Students Helping and Advocating Diversity Education, or S.H.A.D.E.S’ Multicultural Mondays. S.H.A.D.E.S is a student forum that gathers to organize programs on diversity and other related issues.

Before the program began, everyone in the room, including students and faculty were drumming away. There were three rows of various drumbeats as people walked into Alumni Hall. Instruments included high and low Congo drums, tambourines, shakers, hand drums, and cowbells. Not one person was left without something to make noise with. Sophomore Mass Communications student, Pete Gallay exclaimed “I thought it was a great experience, I didn’t expect my ring to break!”

There was a strong sense of togetherness and community; “everyone coming together and picking up a beat” was what Danielle Gibbor, Junior Sociology major as well as a S.H.A.D.E.s member enjoyed the most from the experience.
