The Quinnipiac Student Government Association held its eighth weekly meeting of the year Oct. 28 in SC 207.

Executive Report:

-The Student Leader Advisory Committee will discuss the vacancy in the Multicultural Affairs office.

-Sophomore Representative Andrew McDermott will discuss the trash bag system with the Sustainability Interest Group to make it more environmentally friendly.

-A Stop-Drip campaign will begin, which allows students to use text messages to inform the school of leaky faucets, lights on during the day, etc.

-A Student Concerns table will stand on Alumni Lawn from Nov. 3-5.

-Health Services has addressed complaints over lack of support by increasing its capacity to see students on emotional, personal, social, and family issues.

-The H1N1 vaccine has not arrived, although its arrival is believed to be imminent.

-Special elections for SGA are taking place today, Nov. 4.

-QU Seminars Committee held an open forum on Oct. 29 in Alumni Hall to discuss the QU Seminar system.

-A potluck dinner will be held Nov. 8 from 1-3 p.m.; contact Jen Crowley for details.

-Sophomore Representative Tom Galo spoke with Jack McDonaldabout holding a “Bobcat Rally” for the men’s ice hockey game on Feb. 26, 2010, at the Rec Center.

-A multi-cultural discussion panel will be held on Nov. 17.

-QU is considering implementing a “Your Ride Safe” program in which cars would hold money for use in Metro-Taxis, modeled after a program at UNH

-An “intellectual hour” during which no classes or events occur was proposed, in which there would be a guest speaker.

-The QU Student Rights Initiative wants to use UConn’s Student Bill of Rights as a model for a proposed QU bill. The SHU SGA has been consulted for input.

2012

– Addressing housing concerns for the class of 2012.

2013

-A dance for the freshman class, “Dancing in the Dark,” will be held on Nov. 13.

-Emily Sarnoff spoke about the Relay for Life, set for Apr. 23, 2010. The goal is to raise $135,000 for the American Cancer Society. The captains’ meeting is today. All who are interested are invited to attend.
