Saturday morning, many Quinnipiac students woke to find themselves without power. According to reports from WTNH, they were among more than 50,000 Connecticut residents without power, including more than 21,000 in Hamden.
Around 8 a.m. on Oct. 25, a United Illuminating transformer on Mix Avenue in Hamden short-circuited. According to United Illuminating’s Web site, as of 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 26, power had been restored to all of UI’s nearly 26,000 customers in Hamden.
Many of the outages throughout Connecticut were related to the storms that blew through on Saturday night, knocking down trees and power lines along the way.
Following the outage, the academic buildings, Mountainview, Irma and Dana were all switched to generator power. Power was restored to the entire campus a few hours later.
